April Favorites ♥ Makeup, Skincare, Charity -> Pencils of Promise

Before I move on to my monthly favorites I wanted to announce that I am starting something different on my blog and Youtube channel. I have always been very passionate about different charitable causes and I wanted to somehow apply it to this little blog of mine. While I love fashion and beauty, and clearly I have a blog in which I share my love for both these things, at the end of the day my passion lies in giving back and raising awareness on many things going on in the world. There are so many different ways we can give back and I hope that we can start the conversation and incorporate giving back with our love for all of this.

Every month I will be discussing a new cause I come across and feel strongly about and I will donate a certain amount for the amount of subscribers I receive. If you don’t want to subscribe, please just spread awareness. We have such strong voices and I hope we can shed light on things that are truly important and help others who are out there going through different struggles and need us to be their voice.

This month I had read a book called The Promise of a Pencil by Adam Braun. Adam founded an organization, Pencils of Promise, which builds schools throughout the developing world. This book has been of the most inspiring books I have ever read. He has achieved so much in such a short amount of time, but what really struck me is the fact that he was not driven by money, but by making a difference in this world, even if it meant not living the life he had envisioned for himself or the life that people had envisioned for him. If you read one book this month, or this year, pick up The Promise of a Pencil.

This month I will be donating $100 if I reach 100 subscribers on YouTube . It’s not a lot, but it’s just the beginning. I hope to raise a lot more money for this cause and most importantly awareness for education that is lacking in the developing world.

If you would like to donate to Pencils of Promise, I have started a fundraising page here

Please hashtag #footprintsforacause if you share this organization or any other causes on social media 🙂
And now, without further ado, on to the favorites:

//Makeup//
1. Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer – This is probably my favorite primers of all time. It’s not very silicone-y but it does make for a flawless canvas. It is more moisturizing than most primers I have tried, and I somehow always come back to this one. I often times wear just this on my face and I love it!
2. Hourglass Illusion Tinted Moisturizer – This tinted moisturizer gives more coverage and is not as liquid-y as many other tined moisturizers I have tried. It gives a very dewy and glowy look, which I love!
3. Milani Baked Blush {Luminoso} – I can’t get enough of this stuff. One of the best drugstore blushes I have ever tried and I like this just as much as my favorite blush of all time – Benefit {Coralista}.
4. NYX Butter Gloss {Maple Blondie} – Love the consistency of the NYX butter glosses. They are creamy and provide just the right amount of gloss. I have a few of them, but Maple Blondie is my favorite shade that I have tried thus far. It is the prettiest shade of light pink.

5. Dr. Bronner’s Coconut Oil – I think it’s pretty safe to say that that the entire web has sung its praises about coconut oil, so I wont go on listing all the gazillion benefits. I do want to mention that I have been using coconut oil as a makeup remover and I am hooked! It takes off EVERYTHING! I also love that it’s all natural. I try to keep as many chemicals away from my face as possible.
6. Nature’s Gate Vitamin E Oil – I love Vitamin E. I have way too many Vitamin E oils in my beauty arsenal, but I just can’t get enough of it. This Vitamin E oil by Natures Gate contains Grapeseed and Calendula oils which are also great for moisturizing the skin and fighting signs of aging.
7. MyChelle Dermaceuticals Hyaluronic Firming Serum – I purchased this product based on Lisa Eldridge’s recommendation and I think it’s a really nice serum. I use it only in the mornings and it leaves my skin feeling smooth throughout the day. I also love that it’s all natural.
8. Reviva Labs Vitamin E Stick – Obsessed with this little guy. I use it for under my eyes, but it can also be used as a lip balm. I use it way too often and I already need to restock, but it’s a perfect on the go eye moisturizer. Beware: your under eyes will look oily.

9. Dessert Essence Shampoo and Conditioner {Coconut Line) – I am hooked on this stuff, particularly the shampoo. Now, I am not one who ever saw any noticeable difference on my hair by using shampoos, but this guys is uh-freakin-mazing. My hair has never grown past a certain length, and now it has! While I have been using many other products to cure this little dilemma of mine, I think the shampoo has definitely been one of the reasons for my little hair growth spurt. It’s all natural and has a bunch of oils, but it lathers up and leaves my hair squeaky clean. Can’t stop singing its praises. The conditioner is also pretty good, but the star product is the shampoo in my humble opinion.
10. Castor Oil – While I have started using castor oil in my hair, I can’t report back on the results because I haven’t been consistent enough; however I use it on my eyelashes along with a serum and I have had every single person ask me about my lashes. I will report back on my serum, but the combination works wonders!
11. Agave Healing Oil Treatment – I love this oil. It is quite heavy, especially given the fact that I have fine hair, but this product has been an aid in my hair growth. I apply it almost every day, and I just can’t get enough of it.
